Welcome

A wide range of educational and training services are provided by the Army Education Service.  34 Army Education Centre (JHQ) and 43 Army Education (Elmpt) serves the Rhine Garrison area and its many isodets such as Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Portugal and Italy. 

34 AEC is situated in Cambridge House, JHQ.  Centre facilities include an Army Learning Centre (ALC) for e-learning and a Basic Skills Development Manager (BSDM).  We also have a computer suite for instructor led computer courses.  The Defence Electronic Learning Centre (DELC) is also situated in Cambridge House and provides further online training to support all MOD employees and their dependants.

34 AEC is also the local centre for the Open University in the Rhineland and the Low Countries where OU staff visit the AEC twice a year to tutor and advise students.
43 AEC is situated in Building 2, Javelin Barracks.  43 AEC facilities include a library, an ALC and a Basic Skills Development Manager.

Both centres provide a variety of Personal, community and Development Learning (PCDL) courses, both as day or evening classes available to service personnel, their dependents and entitled civilians.




Mission

To improve the military capability and morale of the Army by delivering  effective and efficient education and training, and educational support services to entitled troops and dependants within in the 34 /43 AEC group area of responsibility.

Library

The libraries, both at Elmpt Station and Wildenrath provide access to books, journals and other resources through the Army Library Service.  The libraries also allow free access to computers and the internet, which you are free to use, even if you just wish to access your emails or surf the net. 

43 AEC has an excellent study centre with books, journals, videos, DVDs and Internet access.  It is the ideal start point if you are doing any sort of research or project.  The library is run by the Army Library Service and books that are not stocked can be ordered on request.
