Hohne Station
Hohne Station has a population of around 4000 including military personnel, their families and civilian workers. Within the Station itself there are many facilities including a shopping centre in the central ‘Roberts Roundhouse’ building which has services including the HIVE Europe information centre, a post office, Forces Travel and Forces Finance, welfare agencies, a bookshop, a mobile phone shop, a media suite, a kids soft play area, a café and even a fancy dress hire shop!
Next to the Roberts Roundhouse building is a large supermarket (the NAAFI Max), NAAFI care sales and also a central office for organising information to BFG your car and arrange the purchase of tax free products (click for more information).
Also within Hohne Station are schools, gyms, a soldiers/public dining centre, a horse riding stables, a running track, short woodland walks and an outdoor swimming pool with a slide (only available in the summer months).
Bergen Town
Based in the district of Celle, Bergen Town is approximately 3km from Hohne Station and many of the soldiers, families and civilian staff based in Hohne are housed in Bergen. Although a relatively small, rural town with a population of 17,000 people, Bergen has many additional facilities available including an indoor swimming pool, a British library, good restaurants, a couple of lively bars, supermarkets and other shopping facilities. The adjacent countryside also gives the opportunity for woodland walks, horse riding trails and cycle routes through quaint villages.
