Bergen-Hohne Garrison

Celle Camp and Celle town

Celle Camp is part of Bergen-Hohne Garrison which comprises of Hohne Station, Celle Camp and Fallingbostel Station. Celle Camp is officially part of Hohne Station which is a 20 – 25 minute drive away with great road and bus links.  Fallingbostel Station is approximately a 40 – 50 drive away from Celle.

Celle Camp is based on the outskirts of the town of Celle, based in the Lower Saxony region in the north of Germany. Situated in the beautiful countryside of the Lüneburger Heide (Heath) area the camp and town is 75km north-east of the city of Hannover and 120km south of the city of Hamburg. Military personnel, civilian staff and their families based in Celle have the added advantage of being very close to a relatively large medieval town which contains many attractions whether it is a stroll through the cobbled streets and markets, eating in a tasty restaurant, shopping, a visit to a traditional bar, relaxing in a picturesque park or a visit to the central Ducal Palace. The local countryside is ideal for a walk or a cycle and contains many atmospheric villages farmhouses built in the typical old Lower Saxon style with red brickwork, oak beams and thatched roofs.

Celle Camp has a population of around 1000 including military personnel, their families and civilian workers. In and around the Camp itself there are many facilities including a NAAFI supermarket, a youth club, a HIVE Europe information centre, a library, a gym, a newsagents, a pool, a dining facility for soldiers and families/civilian workers, crèche facilities, a primary school, cafes and a function room and bar. There is also a central office for organising information to BFG your car and arrange the purchase of tax free products (click for more information).

In the central ‘Roberts Roundhouse’ building in Hohne Station, there are additional services available including Forces Travel and Forces Finance, welfare agencies, a bookshop, a mobile phone shop, a media suite, a kids soft play area, a café and even a fancy dress hire shop. Hohne Station also has a horse riding stables available to Celle Camp residents.
