A recent charity auction organised by members of 8 Regiment RLC Community Group for Münster Station has raised over €5,200 for Children in Need and Frauenhaus, a German Charity for women who have suffered from domestic violence. Last week members of the group presented cheques to the charities.
The auction took place in ‘Stingers’, the 8 Regiment Bar and was compered by BFBS’s own Nick Steele ably supported by the RCMO, Capt Ian Booth MBE. Auction lots ranged from ferry tickets and a weekend holiday break, to tickets to the Allwetterzoo and Springolino’s in Herford. The most money bid for a single item was €550 for a state-of-the-art desktop computer, kindly donated by SmartComputers and Def Log VQ Trust. There was also a very generous donation of €500 from The Keys of Munster British Freemasons in Germany.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by the ‘Münster’s Got Talent’ winner, Private McMasters, Corporal Jones and the York Barracks PTIs who did a gymnastic display that was much appreciated by the ladies in the audience!
The Committee were exceedingly grateful to a whole host of people who donated both prizes and their time to make this evening such a huge success and raise such a sizeable donation for these worthwhile charities.
