With 68 Sqn deployed on Op Herrick 10, those left behind enjoyed their last Family Fun Day before the eagerly awaited return of their loved ones on 24th October.  Both 67 Sqn and 68 Sqn 6 Regt RLC are based at Tower Barracks in Dulmen, come April it will be the turn of 67 Sqn to go out to Afghanistan to do their six month tour.
The Family Fun Day was organised by SSgt Sarah Bottrell who recently found out that she is to receive the Joint Commanders Commendation for her had work as Divisional SQMS in Iraq last year. “We have tried to provide something for everyone, there is a roast dinner so mums don’t have to cook, there is also bingo for the ladies, we have a children’s entertainer and activities for the kids and the ever popular Grand Prix game on the big screen for the boys.”

Micheala Mathews said “it has been quite hard because Gaz went when Mischa was eight months old, she will be fifteen months when he gets back so she will have changed a lot, working in the HIVE has given me something to do as Dulmen can be a challenging place to live, it’s a nice town but there is not a lot going on.” Angela Walker said “wives have had to really club together to get through this time and some of the younger wives have found it really hard, but at the end of the day you just have to find yourself a project and get on with it.”
