Visit of GOC Theatre Troops Maj Gen B Brealey to 6 Regiment RLC

The Officers and Soldiers of 6 Regiment RLC played host to the Commander Theatre Troops on the morning of 25 February 09.  Following a meeting with the Commanding Officer Lt Col J H Cranmer and a presentation given by the Regimental Second in Command, Maj CJ Francis, he conducted a tour around the Regiment’s state of the art Technical Training Wing, a new training facility for the Regiments Supply Specialists trade.

During his time in the Virtual Storehouse he was taken through the Supply process by Cpl Nation, getting genuine hands on experience of the Supply trade (see Picture).  Following his tour of the Technical Training Wing he visited a number of Regimental themed stands.  Amongst the themes on display was information regarding the great success the Regiment has had in promoting the DEFLOG VQ Trust initiative, through which soldiers gain civilian National Vocational Qualifications based on their experiences in the military work place.

6 Regiment was recently awarded the Special Unit Award 2008 to add to the Best Unit Award they received in 2007 for their efforts in this area.  With 26% of the Regiment comprising Non British Component soldiers, 6 Regiment were also keen to demonstrate their cultural diversity through a series of cultural stands, representing the various nationalities within the Regiment.  The GOC concluded his tour with a brief on the Regiments efforts in the area of sport and adventure training.  The GOC was pleased to see that a number of the Regiment’s soldiers were gaining the opportunity to test them selves on demanding expeditions.
