The Blue Dragoon Room

Matthew Botsford regimental 2IC opened the new Blue Dragoon Room. (above)

QDG had one small welfare room but desperately needed a bigger and better facility that offered more space and a focal point for families and soldiers within the community.

The new room has been transformed with a lick of paint and Regimental Welfare Officer, Capt Tim Moore said: “This is the focal point for all the families and dependants during operational tour.  The Dragoon room now offers fantastic facilities including: free internet access, a WII console for the kids and adults alike to use, BFBS and Sky TV, a separate soft play room (below), lots more toys and a kitchen facility available.”

Annamarie Thomas was thrilled with the new room, said “We now have one big room where there is much more space for the children to run around in.  It is a much nicer meeting place.”

A big thank you goes to Liz Tyson, Sam Dunne and members of the welfare committee for all their hard work and support setting up the new welfare room.

The Blue Dragoon Room is open everyday including weekends.  The main coffee morning is held on a Wednesday at 10am – 12pm, so don’t sit in silence, come along for a coffee and a friendly chat.

QDG’s Big Brew Up

QDG held this year’s Big Brew in conjunction with the opening of their new welfare room, The Blue Dragoon on 1st October.

Home made cakes and biscuits donated by wives were served with tea to members of HQ and A squadron in exchange for a small donation to SSAFA. (below)

26 excited children from Dempsey FS1 also came along to support the Big Brew.  Even with C squadron deployed to Afghanistan the morning proved a great success raising €500.
