QDG had one small welfare room but desperately needed a bigger and better facility that offered more space and a focal point for families and soldiers within the community.
The new room has been transformed with a lick of paint and Regimental Welfare Officer, Capt Tim Moore said: “This is the focal point for all the families and dependants during operational tour. The Dragoon room now offers fantastic facilities including: free internet access, a WII console for the kids and adults alike to use, BFBS and Sky TV, a separate soft play room (below), lots more toys and a kitchen facility available.”
Annamarie Thomas was thrilled with the new room, said “We now have one big room where there is much more space for the children to run around in. It is a much nicer meeting place.”
A big thank you goes to Liz Tyson, Sam Dunne and members of the welfare committee for all their hard work and support setting up the new welfare room. The Blue Dragoon Room is open everyday including weekends. The main coffee morning is held on a Wednesday at 10am – 12pm, so don’t sit in silence, come along for a coffee and a friendly chat. |
