BRITISH ARMY (GERMANY) POWERLIFTING
Welcome to the BA(G) Powerlifting website. Over recent years, Powerlifting and strength eventing has become an evolving and popular sport that has now, unsurprisingly, filtered into the Forces environment.
Having begun with only a handful of competitors, it has proved that a different training regime to the norm, together with growing interest and an abundance of support and camaraderie from fellow powerlifters, the sport is now growing at a vast rate, resulting in some forces personnel now competing at National and International levels.
Individuals who have become interested in the sport have gone on to compete in various BA(G) competitions and have continually returned to compete again, proving that the sport is not about winning but about exposing individual improvement and personal gains.
All BA(G) competitions are conducted under the British Drug Free Powerlifting Association (BDFPA) rules.
So what is Powerlifting?
It is the lifting of weights consisting of three specific types of lifts:
The powerlifting season begins with a Bench Press competition, next is the Push and Pull competition (which comprises of the Bench and Deadlift). Last in the calendar is the Full Power comprising of all 3 lifts.
For more information on each lift, please follow the links on the left of the page.
Who can try lifting?
Anyone, this sport is open to both Male and female.
Don’t you have to be really big?
Powerlifting is divided into different weight categories much like boxing, it
enables people to compete at any weight, as the overall weight you lift is calculated against your bodyweight meaning you don’t have to be the biggest competitor to be the strongest.
