The Housing and Community Support Office (HCSO)
When you first apply for housing in Paderborn Garrison, the HCSO will send you an acknowledgement and an indication of when a quarter will be allocated to you. Once a quarter is allocated to you a letter confirming the address, and the date and time of move in, will be sent to you. You will be asked to confirm the acceptance of the offer by returning a signed receipt back to the HCSO. Do not make any travel arrangements until you receive the allocation letter. Do not arrive in Paderborn Garrison before the date of your move in, unless you have been given permission to do so by the HCSO or your Unit.
Refusing an Allocation
You should be aware that an allocation may only be refused in the following circumstances:
1. When the allocation is not to your entitlement,
2. Allocations to entitlement can only be turned down in exceptional circumstances and must be deemed to be for justifiable reasons.
With the current shortage of SFA within Paderborn Garrison, any refusal of SFA will be stringently reviewed and this may mean that we will not be able to meet the date that you require SFA.
Taking Over Your Quarter
If for any reason you are unable to attend the takeover of your quarter, you may appoint a Service proxy to do this for you. In most cases a member of your Unit Welfare Staff will act on your behalf. Your chosen proxy will then be responsible for signing for your quarter on your behalf.
Pets
Many of the quarters in the Garrison are hired from private landlords. Some of these landlords do not allow pets in their property. If you intend to bring a pet you must include the details on your housing application form
(Form 1132). You will be given guidance on the German Law regarding the keeping of pets and in respect of certain breeds that are banned in Germany. All dogs are required to be registered with the HCSO within two days of your arrival.
Important Information
Moving house is a very stressful time but with good communication between you, your future Unit Welfare Office and the HCSO, much of the stress can be avoided. Please ensure you:
1. Apply for your quarter (Form 1132) as early as possible.
2. Provide as much information as possible about your family needs, including a contact telephone number.
3.
Do not make any bookings in relation to your move until you have received a confirmed address of your new quarter and a date and time for the takeover.
4. Do not arrive in Paderborn Garrison before the date of the take over of your quarter unless you have been given permission to do so by the HCSO or your Unit.
5. Keep in touch.
