Location:   Rheindahlen Military Complex, Moenchengladbach, BFPO 40

Country:   Germany

LIVING

The Rheindahlen Military Complex is a military township (known as JHQ) housing approximately 5000 military and entitled civilian personnel and their families.  Known as ‘little England’ by the local German community, JHQ is largely self-sufficient in terms of schooling, medical, welfare, spiritual, shopping and recreational provision.  The staff from other NATO member countries serving in HQ ARRC and their families add an international flavour to the RMC.  There are outstations at Wegberg, approximately 1 mile away and in Moenchengladbach, about 6 miles away.  For those who venture outside the confines of JHQ, the vibrant towns of Moenchengladbach, Dusseldorf and Cologne are on the doorstep as are all the wonderful opportunities that Germany has to offer.

CLIMATE

Similar to living in the South of England.

WORKING

The military HQs and the majority of other work locations are based on JHQ and are easily accessible from all married and single living accommodation by foot or bicycle.  For those housed or working in Moenchengladbach or Wegberg a car to travel to and from work is strongly recommended.  A German public bus service links JHQ to Moenchengladbach and the German rail network.

ARRIVAL

On submission of an application for Service Families Accommodation (MOD Form 1132) to the Unit Welfare Officer, applicants will be sent a Welcome Pack containing all the necessary information for new arrivals.  Single soldiers are sent welcome packs by the RSU RAO on receipt of posting orders.  New arrivals to JHQ and their spouses are invited to attend a Welcome Induction Briefing.  These are held on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 1000 hours in the RSU Welfare Centre.
