This service is to ensure that we can keep the Gütersloh community up to date with forthcoming events and opportunities as quickly as possible.

Gütersloh lies approximately halfway between Hannover and Dortmund , so is ideally situated for exploring Germany .
The setting of the town is pleasantly rural with a few major  industries such as Bertelsman (printers) and Miele (washing machines).
The young town (established 1825) has an old town centre. The alte Kirchplatz (old church square) surrounding the Apostelkirche (Apostel church) is one of the finest of its type in Westfalia. Starting out as a moorland village, it quickly developed throughout the middle of the nineteenth century into a town which was just as much characterised by the protestant entrepreneurial spirit as an early consciousness for social responsibility.
Gutersloh is a large community and there should be something here for everybody, and through the Varity of clubs and societies-, all of which are clamouring for your help and support. It is hoped that you and your family will make many lasting friends and thus enjoy your posting to Gutersloh .

There are two junior schools Blankenhagen (05241 35108) www.blankenhagenschool.com/ and Haig (05241 842296) Haig School Both Haig and Kings are situated in Mansergh Barracks. For children requiring a Senior school there is Kings (05241 842210)
Two HIVEs serve the Gütersloh area:
The HIVE in Princess Royal Barracks (PRB) can be found by turning right once you come in the main gates and is on the ground floor within the Amenities centre through the first door to the right as you come in the front entrance. 
(Depart A 2 , Exit 24, towards Gütersloh/Verl/Rietberg. Turn right onto Verler Straße and follow the road through town. Eventually turn left onto B 61, Nordring, towards Rheda-Wiedenbrück. Turn right onto B 513, Marienfelder Straße, towards Harsewinkel at the ARAL Station. Follow the road for about 2.5 miles and PRB is on your left hand side.)
Also located in this building;
a large PRI shop, ‘Teapot café, Red Shield paper shop, the SSVC shop and upstairs the Army Welfare Service and Home-Start.
The Mansergh BksHIVE is situated in the Amenities Centre . Also within the Amenities Centre are the Thrift shop, Hairdressers, Travel agent and the BFG office.
